Sumitomo is a Japanese company that easily is one of the world’s 10 largest tire makers. It manufactures a complete range of tires for both street-legal and off-the-road applications. Among its brands are Ohtsu, Falken and the U.S.-based TBC Brands, which include neutral brands and economy lines such as Cordovan, Multi-Mile, Sigma and Vanderbilt. Its tires are sold through chains owned by TBC, including NTB, Tire Kingdom, Merchants Tire and Big O, and through chains, discount stores and e-trailers owned by others. It warrants some of its tires to original owners for as many as 100,000 miles, and more for 60,000 to 80,000 miles. Speed ratings of passenger tires, depending on line, range to W (168 miles per hour).
